X-Treme Green is a service for Wylie residents only, defined as those who live in the Wylie city limits and pay City of Wylie property tax. Residents are asked to bring their most recent City of Wylie utility bill (water, trash collection, and/or sewer) which will be reviewed by staff at the event, along with a valid driver?s license or other government-issued ID.

Description

The City of Wylie and Community Waste Disposal are pleased to provide RESIDENTIAL collection and disposal services for:

  • Household hazardous waste
  • Electronics
  • Household metal appliances
  • Automotive tires
  • Document shredding

Brush and bulk items will not be accepted.

Household Hazardous Waste:
Aerosols RCRA Empty 
Cylinders Corrosive (acids, bases) 
Pesticides & Herbicides Oxidizers
Flammables Organic Peroxides
Oil Base Paint Organic Compounds 
Latex Paint Lighting Ballast (assume PCB content) 
Gasoline MNiMH & NiCAD Batteries
Antifreeze Lithium & Li-ion Batteries
Lead Acid Batteries Non-hazardous solid (caulk, joint compound, etc.)

Electronics:
Computers  Routers 
Mainframe Computers Laptops 
Cable TV boxes   Computer Terminals 
Media Storage Devices Flatbed Scanners 
CD Rom Drives  Satellite TV transmitting equipment  
Microcomputers  Telephones (cellular, cordless, wireless)

Household Metal Appliances:  
Refrigerators       Freezers

*Acceptable maximum amount per residence is three appliances per event. Freon must be removed from the refrigerator and the unit tagged "Freon removed by a trained professional."

Automotive Tires:  
Passenger and SUV Tires       ATV Tires 
Light Duty Truck Tires Lawnmower Tires 

*Acceptable maximum per residence is 5 tires per event

Document Shredding
Bank statements
Confidential information
Old bills

An attendant will load papers into the shredding machine and the resident can watch them being shredded through a window.

Individuals that appear to be delivering these items from a business, whether run out of a residence or not, will be rejected or charged a separate special handling fee. City and/or contractor may reject unusual volumes of hazardous waste, electronics, household metal appliances, automotive tires, or documents for shredding. Unusual volumes will be determined by:

  • Any one material where the accumulated weight exceeds 500 pounds.
  • Any one material whereas the accumulated volumes exceed 1 cubic yard.
  • Any multiple items that accumulated volume exceed 4 cubic yards.
